When it comes to aging and stay slim, it looks like Japanese women – and Asians in general – have hit the jackpot genetics. Many comedian speculated about how you never see an ‘old Asian lady’ and slight frame is equally well known.
And it is not just a funny stereotype. It’s actually true -. Asian women mostly do not seem to age particularly well and it is not until they reach a certain age they start to show signs of wrinkles
and Japanese women have many world records when it comes to long life cycles (like Japanese men). There’s even a book on it by one Naomi Moriyama call “Japanese women do not leave old or fat.”
So what is the secret?
Part of it is genetics. But she is also part of their diet, which is generally very healthy.
What can we learn from the diet of Japanese women
So if you were to look at the ingredients enjoyed by many Japanese women in the kitchen, what is gets?
It’s all super health:
- Sea vegetables
- green tea
Now this tells us a little about what we need to know. Sea vegetables are simply full of minerals and vitamins, but most impressive is the fish, which is rich in omega 3 fatty acids
Omega 3 helps to improve the appearance of the skin by helping production natural oil, which is a powerful antioxidant (which fights cancer and wrinkles) and helps permeability of the cell membrane to help fight Alzheimer’s disease (among other things). Caffeine, found in green tea also helps combat age-related cognitive decline.
Rice has recently been involved in the fight against aging, thanks to a substance known as phytoceramides that help the skin to form a stronger outer protective layer, trapping more moisture. Phytoceramides have been called-made ‘facelifts in a pill’ (but of course that is best done naturally).
Also note the distinct lack of chips, chocolate bars or prepared meals. Most Japanese women still cook most of your meals at home with fresh ingredients which means they are not eating large amounts of sugar -. One of the major causes of aging, weight gain and other problems
Oh, and re: weight gain, the Japanese eat small portions. Just take a look at their plates -. They are about a third the size of our dishes
exercise, lifestyle and genetics
You he has heard that people in all parts of the cycle in Hong Kong and is also true for most of the rest of Asia. Exercise is also very common in Japan with walking, hiking and staying active a whole common part of the routine. Japan has lots of large open spaces such as parks in cities and larger towns.
The Japanese also statistically visit their doctors for a lot of tests, which help detect problems early.
Then there’s genetics, which Do , of course, play a role. What’s more, generations of eating healthily and getting plenty of exercise and time outside help to build a stronger foundation for children. So if you will not take a leaf out of his book for yourself, do it for your children!
