My experience with hypothyroidism


Two years I was on a vegetarian diet and was a busy graduate student, but had difficulty keeping up with my schedule because I was tired all the weather. I went to naturopathic doctor for answers and actually test my blood. He found that was slightly hypothyroidism. The reason I had a thyroid level was slightly low, as it was not getting enough protein. This was the reason I was not just tired all the time, but very sensitive to cold. As soon as I improved my diet I found that my energy improved and even I realized that he slept better. I did not realize that their diet could be one of the causes of hypothyroidism.

Gluten can be problematic because the structure of the protein gluten, gliadin, is similar to the protein of the thyroid gland and for those who have the autoimmune condition this causes the body to attack the thyroid. Going on this diet may be worth trying as many people are gluten sensitive and has been found to improve overall health.

Maintain minimum pesticide consumption, eat organic whenever possible.

Eat healthy fats like avocado and olive oil.

Be sure to drink plenty of water (free of fluorine).

Exercise at least 3 times a week, regular walks are great!

Get enough sleep at least 8 hours a night for your adrenals.
